For a Sustainable Tomorrow: Partnership with School Recycling League 2024

LION Singapore is honored to be a part of the School Recycling League 2024 Programme.

Since LION's founding in 1891, it has striven to help consumers realize health, comfort, cleanliness and hygiene in everyday living. Based on our purpose "to make a difference in everyday lives by redesigning habits", LION had set out a management strategy to reinforce initiatives for Sustainability Material Issues. LION had positioned “promoting environmental initiatives for a sustainable planet" and “creating healthy living habits” as top-priority material issues.

Environmental initiatives for a sustainable planet include reducing CO2 emissions and water usage across business activities, product lifecycles, as well as to actively promote the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle).

Over the years, LION has introduced products that create effortless ways for consumers to be more environmentally friendly.  We actively encourage the use of our refill packs, introduced ultra-concentrated products in smaller packaging to reduce plastic consumption and some bottle containers are made from recycled plastic.

Recognizing our pivotal role in society as a provider of daily necessities, we believe that the starting point for value creation is the establishment of healthy lifestyle practices, such as tooth brushing and hand washing. This is achieved through active public education to communicate on the importance of good oral health and personal hygiene. Our collaboration with SembWaste has reached many students across schools, where the school talks included an educational session on the proper way of hand washing, fun quizzes, as well as the opportunity for the children to design their own hand soap bottle stickers to participate in a drawing contest.

Schools in the SembWaste network also had the chance to participate in LION Recycling Challenge where students were encouraged to get creative and share ways on upcycling product packaging across LION brands. Winners were acknowledged and presented with prizes during the Presentation Ceremony.
